Hi everyone, I wish I could tell you I have a bunch of news, but the fact of the matter is I don't, and probably won't for another week or so when we hear about the bone marrow match. Right now I am in a bit of a waiting period. For the next couple of weeks, the doctors are going to let the chemo work it's magic while also letting my blood cell counts gradually climb back up to acceptable levels. At the end of this 2 to 3 week waiting period, they will test my marrow again and see how much cancer is left. At that point we'll have a much clearer picture of next steps and potential future treatments.
I officially started my new exercise program today, which consisted of doing push ups and various dumb bell weight exercises for a total of 10 minutes. Thanks for bringing down the weights pops. It is pretty amazing how quickly you can lose strength and endurance when you're enclosed in a small room for a month. My only hope is that 10 minutes turns into 12 then 15, then 30, then who knows...I write a book about hospital fitness and make a million. Oh wait, I'm pretty sure that book already exists. Damn it, late again. Bottom line is it felt really good to actually feel my heart pumping blood again so I'll be looking forward to keeping that going. Besides, gives me something else to do to pass the time.
On a final note, congratulations to Eric and Lisa on the birth of their beautiful (I saw pictures) baby girl, Tatum "Tate" Marie Hunzeker today. I am so happy for you both.
That's it guys, that's all I got. Thanks for reading, writing and staying up on everything. We'll catch up tomorrow.
P.S. Get some sleep Mrs. O

What is Kurt's diagnosis?
AML is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes abnormal myeloblasts (a type of white blood cell), red blood cells, or platelets.
Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. This type of cancer usually gets worse quickly if it is not treated. It is the most common type of acute leukemia in adults. AML is also called acute myelogenous leukemia, acute myeloblastic leukemia, acute granulocytic leukemia, and acute nonlymphocytic leukemia.

Habedere Kurt,
sounds like we need to be patient for a little while.
It felt good for all of us to talk to you the other day, we wish we could visit Evey and you there. But we are with you in our thoughts every day.
Say hello to everyone over there and take care,
Daniel
Servus Kurtl,
i hope you could figure out my german riddle-post already. So the next 2 weeks are quiet? Perfect time to advance your bavarian skills a bit, oder? As promised we will fix your german/bavarian anti-boredom-box this weekend, so hopefully it will reach you next week.
Hope to see all of you soon!
Zint` auf Kumpel!

Hi Sweetie,
Don't know if I told you this but I had to shave Saul's hair off last week - it was coming out in chunks, like yours. He jokes about his new hairless "do" and asks me how he looks. I tell him, "like Will Smith", and then he's happy!!
Great that you're exercising - in no time you'll be as buff and gorgeous as you were!! However, as far as your hair goes, since you were born in South Africa, you might just grow back an "Afro" style! Just think, you could have dreadlocks or braids, or whatever else tickles your fancy! LOL.
And that's it for today Sweetie - continue keeping your spirits up and know that you'll soon be well again and out of "Camp Kurt". Also remember that everyone is praying for you and that you're in everyone's hearts and thoughts.
Love you,
Mom xxx
Hey Kurt,
Shaved head, weight lifting, small quarters, dude should we be sending you California plates?? Well, I'm certain you won't be posting a photo of your beautiful baldness so we will just have to come up and see you. Hope to hear some good news soon!
Toni & Mike
an "afro"...
That's hilarious.
Hi Kurt and Evey,
We continue to pray for your strong and speedy recovery as do several churches. You are constantly on our minds.
Stay strong and positive for the Lord walks with you even though you are now hairless. . . .
btw. . . I'm not quite bald right now but we did buy a set of clippers and my wife took the #1 attachment to my head. . . . my scalp got burned last weekend and is starting to flake. . . .see how lucky you are to not be out in the sun ?
Blessings,
Ed and Yeon
Hi Kurt:
It is so nice to read and understand the messages from Daniel and Andy. They are the nicest guys.
My brother Miguel gave Floyd a bath today and he is happy and smells really good. Don't worry about him, he is not going to turn into a sissy dog.
I would like to know if you told your friends the truth about the thermometer. I heard it was a rectal one.
See you soon. Love, Sonia
bro.. stop complaining about that 3 inch needle.. I've been poking my wife with one for years and she hasn't complained once :-)
stay strong and stay focused on healing buddy!!
Good to see where the blog is heading today. Mike E, I don't think I know you but damn that's funny. And Sonia, we know. Great to see you last night man.

Kurt,
Mile hile land stinks! Estey that was Hilarious! I am glad to hear they are letting you exercise, I know you have missed that tremendously. I need to get down there, and will when I get back from Denver. I still think that with your 10 minute work out plan, you will still be in better shape then the likes of me my friend! I am out here with Robinson and he asked about you, and sends his best. He said " welcome to the hair club for men"
See you soon,
Van
Van's in shape...
He's ROUND!
A very attractive woman goes up to the bar in a quiet rural pub. She gestures alluringly to the bartender, who comes over immediately. When he arrives, she seductively signals that he should bring his face closer to hers. When he does so, she begins to gently caress his full beard.
"Are you the manager?" she asks, softly stroking his face with both hands.
Actually, no". the man replies.
"Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him." she says, running her hands beyond his beard and into his hair.
"I'm afraid I can't, breathes the bartender. Is there anything I can do?"
"Yes, there is. I need you to give him a message." she continues, popping a couple of fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.
"What should I tell him?" the bartender manages to say.
"Tell him," she whispers, "There is no toilet paper or hand soap in the ladies room."
Hey Kurt,
Letting you know that Im continuing to pray for you. This great blog was a wonderful idea and you and your girlfriend have a lot of support from the many friends and family you have.
Your Mom's sense of humor is next to none, and what she says about your hair possibly coming back Afro, is hilarious. She's right on, because you ARE an African American!!! Bet you had a good laugh over that, and possibly also some food for thought!!!!!!!! She's one of a kind and thats why we all love her.
Stay cool and upbeat....youll get the better of this!
George
Kurt,
We spoke to your Dad earlier in the week who informed us of your condition. I want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you get stronger every day!

Hey Kurt:
Good to hear you're on an exercise routine. I know exactly how you feel after a lapse in exercise. I had some heart bypass surgery a couple years ago and they shut me down completely on any heavy upper body exercise. Amazing how those damned muscles tend to atrophy. You're quite a few years younger than me, so that won't happen to you, but, keep up the exercise.
Wood
Hey you-
It's the other Apple girl out here on the east checking in and saying Hi. Been praying for you and sending lots of positive vibes westward.
You sure do have an amazing support team out there.
Keep up the good fight.
With love from the east,
Amy
