New York medium rare please...

All is quiet on the hospital front. Not much to report on today except that we hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July. Trust me, we wish we could be right there with you grilling steaks and drinking beers, but that isn't going to happen so you'll have to have enough fun for the both of us.

It is going to be very quiet this weekend given the holiday and my kind of "in between" status, but if any news should come up we will be sure to post it. Otherwise, have a great long weekend and go Angels!

Hi Kurt.

Happy 4th of July weekend.

I am glad to hear things are progressing with your treatment and super stoked to see how much love and support you have from your friends and family.

I bumped into Evey the other day at Ingram and I wanted to say hello and tell you that I am thinking about you and pulling for you.

100%

Keep rolling and fighting through the "stuck in hospital blues".

Ok. Be well and best of success as you continue your treatment.

Hey Kurt, it's Jill (Gary's better half).

I take it you watched the Angels game on t.v. - I don't think our silly mugs made it on t.v., but we had seats in Field level 124 - so we were off the first base line. The game was exciting (as I'm sure you saw), but it was Africa hot out! Muggy and still for the first two hours or so. We went early to get autographs from the players on my MLB ball, but only one stopped to sign - and we didn't even know who he was - we think he was only a pitching coach! LOL!

The fireworks after were great - but they play too much country music for us (Proud to be an American, etc.). Can you believe it - Gary didn't even buy one beer! LOL! He was happy with a cool lemonade - I suppose he wasn't in the mood with the heat.

Happy 4th (and 5th, 6th, and so on!)

We are really thinking a lot about you - the good thoughts are surely flowing your way - positive attitude is everything - and it's so wonderful to see you are getting it from every angle - your friends and family are really wonderful support.

I just love your blog - we are on every day.

Will you be watching "Dances With Wolves" as one of your movies? Gary mentioned that Tatonka thing! LOL!

Kurt,

It is pretty hot this weekend and the dog park was pretty empty today. There are probably more people opting to stay in the AC than enjoy the weekend. I read this story and thought you would find it entertaining.

Carole & Leo

There must be something in the water down in Florida to cause a woman to hold a cat as ransom!

Linda Urioste's black lab puppy Scobby went missing several weeks ago, but instead of searching for him right away, she assumed he was stolen and gone for good. In the meantime, Scobby had turned up at the animal shelter and was adopted by Jutta Hollar and her husband after being unclaimed for weeks.

Eventually Urioste did check the animal shelter, and the couple learned that the rightful owner was looking for the pup. Upon meeting Uriste, The Hollars decided not to give back Scobby (now names Buddy), since Urioste was "extremely rude and threatened to sue."

Here's where things get interesting: Mizy, the Hollar's cat went missing a few days after meeting Urioste, and they received a message from her stating she had Mizy, and wouldn't give her back until they returned Scobby!

After confessing, police arrested Linda Urioste for holding Mizy the cat ransom in exchange for the dog. Charges included theft and extortion!

What is Kurt's diagnosis?

AML is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes abnormal myeloblasts (a type of white blood cell), red blood cells, or platelets.

Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. This type of cancer usually gets worse quickly if it is not treated. It is the most common type of acute leukemia in adults. AML is also called acute myelogenous leukemia, acute myeloblastic leukemia, acute granulocytic leukemia, and acute nonlymphocytic leukemia.

This blog was created to post updates on Kurt and give all of our friends and family a forum to share notes and thoughts. Please check back often for updates.
